All about Coach Weeks!
This year I am entering my 15th year of teaching at Troup High School. The courses I teach are Geometry PAP, PreCalculus, and Senior Math. I am also a middle school volleyball coach this year, as well as, the head softball coach. I graduated high school from Humble High school. I played softball and volleyball and was active in the FFA while attending Humble High School. I also played softball for four years in college. I was the starting pitcher for the Patriots during my two years playing at UT Tyler. I started my college education at Grayson County College in Sherman, TX, where I earned two associates degrees(General Studies and Secondary Education). Then I earned a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics at UT Tyler in Tyler, TX. I love softball and being around kids. I have been around sports my entire life and feel that they are an important part of what made me the person that I am today. I graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler in May of 2009. My major was mathematics with a minor in secondary education. My husband, Brendan, and I have two children, Kaydense, 10 and Logan, 7. We also have two dogs named Cowgirl and Belle.
My Teaching Philosophy:
I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I started school at age five. Little did I know then how much I would love my job. When I started working at Troup I knew right away that I made the right decision by becoming a teacher. I have a very unique passion for what I do. Most people think of a coach as someone who just teaches so that they may coach. However, in my eyes, the coaching is just a bonus to the job. I enjoy getting to come to work everyday and make a difference in our future generation. The most rewarding part of my job is being able to see the joy in a child’s face when they finally “get it.” Seeing a child succeed means that I have done my job. My goal each and every year is to be able to reach each and every one of my students in some form or fashion and to have each one of them be successful in the classroom and in the real world. For these children are the future of our nation.
