Culinary Arts Certifications

Mrs. Steen and 38 Culinary Arts students recently attended the Region 8 Food Show at the Region 8 Educational Service Center.  They were able to taste various foods from cafeteria vendors and respond to surveys.  With this survey information, the Troup ISD Food Services Manager will make her selections for the district's cafeterias.  The students won many door prizes, including gift cards and chef tools, and were able to bring home samples of food.  
 
The Culinary Arts classes study different types of food, food preparation techniques, food handling, and safety.  Students have the opportunity to test and receive their ServSafe Food Handlers Certification and ServSafe Manager Certifications.  So far this year, 24 students have earned these certifications.  Since 2019, 172 THS students have earned the Food Handlers certificates and 40 students have earned the Managers certificates.culinary arts
