Christmas Capital of Texas

Mrs. Rust was a fabulous tour guide on our Culinary and Hospitality & Tourism field trip to the Gaylord Texan Resort.  She knew the ins and outs of the resort from her previous experience working there.  We had a great time and saw how they went all-out on decorating for Christmas.  The resort has a huge glass ceiling made into the star of Texas and the hotel is divided into different sections of the state of Texas, like the Hill Country, the Alamo, Palo Duro Canyon, and the Riverwalk.  During Christmas, the Gaylord Texan has many activities, like ice skating, snow tubing, and gingerbread house decorating. There are also small trains that traverse throughout the landscape which is made up of all native live plants. The resort was huge and had a lot of things to do and see.  We also got to go to a local Mexican restaurant called Esparzas which is located in an old house right next to downtown Grapevine. The downtown was decorated for Christmas and is known as the Christmas capital of Texas.
