Hello and welcome!

My name is Mr. Keating, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Troup ISD family. Whether you're a returning student or brand new to our school community, I'm genuinely excited to work alongside you this year. We're going to grow, challenge ourselves, and discover just how much we’re capable of—together.

I bring to the classroom over 15 years of experience teaching English Language Arts and History at the elementary, high school, and college levels, including dual-credit and Advanced Placement. I've had the privilege of teaching everywhere from South Texas to right here in East Texas, and I’ve also served in the U.S. Navy and as a federal intelligence agent with the Department of Homeland Security. Each chapter of my journey has taught me something important about learning, perseverance, and the value of every individual’s story.

In our classroom, you’ll find a strong focus on critical thinking, creativity, and respect. Whether we’re exploring literature, crafting essays, or building historical awareness, I strive to make learning meaningful and engaging.

To parents and guardians: thank you for trusting me with your child’s education. I consider it both a responsibility and an honor. My door is always open, and I look forward to partnering with you throughout the school year.
